de la Magnifique

I have never doubted Oscar de la Renta, however I have never expected a pre-fall collection this boldly, extravagant from him. The colour scheming in this collection blew my mind. From mermaid greens to fuchsia, which then bounded to black-navy blends to the mustard and gold hues! And it goes on to poppy and pastel to metallics and cremes! This collection is undeniable. The knee length hem, and cocktail dresses with woven tweed toreador dinner jackets and the most dignified gowns that will most definitely be seen on red carpets to come. Eyelet, tweed, mesh, faille, beaded, fur, chiffon, feathered, bullion metals, silk, leather, lace fabrics all paired with a truly simple and timeless crimson la bouche EVERY! TIME! Each piece put together with that elaborate poise. Notice the belt cinching on the majority of the looks? I can't get enough! My favourite? The plunging V backs, and the old fashioned neck lines to match the hems.

Your new favorite place

My newest bookmarked page is Farrow & Ball. You will love it! Originally housed in England, Farrow & Ball offers the most jaw dropping wallpapers as well as paints. The sixteenth century European boroque style patterns, as well as metallics with dated or modern shades in a melrose pattern, it is just a dream. An easy way to decorate your home or create a bold statement wall and produce a warm homely feel. Treat your home is its own identification. I can't wait to purchase my first sheets!

My best-loved sheet.... Silvergate in arsenic and hound lemon!

Undeniable

Just the sweetest. Late for the season but either way, the chemistry is still pure. Not to mention the clothing is very wearable for your everyday adventurous life.

Oh, and how precious is Chad White?! I'll take cruddy lip syncing from him any day!

Oh, the places you'll go!

Sass & Bide, created by Aussies, Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, only began their label in 1999, and had their first runway show during London's fashion week in 2002 and look where they are now! These two successful designers and business woman really brought it with their Fall 2010 RTW. Take a quick peek by watching a video of their show, Sass & Bide 2010 Fall.

And speeking of Aussies, which brings me to my next tearful thought. To my closest foe and
brother and lover and friend, Sydney who is leaving my side for six months to travel the land down under, a line from our good ol' pal Dr. Seuss;

So...
be your name Buxabaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea,
You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting
So... get on your way!

Bizaare

Whimsical and outlandish, these photos caught my eye. Backstage from men's fashion month, John Galliano brings the silent film era back to life with this intense stage make-up. I wish a slapstick scene would have broken out, maybe next time. Never know what to expect from a John Galliano Show...
Click here to check out the translation from the make-up to the show. It really is just as impressive!

Autumn

The beginning of September and the weather is never-the-less bone chilling but J.Crew, has the right idea. Neutral, embellishment, woven, fur, comfort, and layering. Some old, some new. Lots of layering your woolies! I don't think our Winnipeg winters can handle only pantyhose but for the meanwhile they will be put to use

Simplistic Styles

I realize I am a little, well very, late with these 2010 spring/summer styles but either way! Designer, Margaret Howell and label, Stolen Girlfriends Club, had the same idea of looking effortless with a sense of poise, however, each have been tweaked accordingly and have come out being visually utopian.

Margaret Howell, having an old-fashioned but truly timeless elegance.
Compromised with wedges and slouchy waist belts to fit with todays trend styles.

Stolen Girlfriends Club. Still chic with a light, playful sense.
